Chapter I

Faith, Hope, and Love

Faith, Hope, and Love are the three Christian virtues written in the Bible, in chapter 13 of the first letter of the apostle Paul to the church in Corinth, which he wrote around the year 55 AD. At the end of that hymn of praise to love, the well-known triad of Faith, Hope, and Love is mentioned. These are essential values that are often symbolized by a cross, an anchor, and a heart, respectively. Literally, it says:

Even if I were to speak the languages of men and of angels, but I did not have love, I would have become a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I had the gift of prophecy and knew all mysteries and possessed all knowledge, and if I had all the faith so that I could move mountains, but I did not have love, then I would be nothing. And if I were to distribute all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I were to give over my body to be burned, but I did not have love, it would profit me nothing.

Love is patient, it is kind, love is not jealous, love does not boast, it is not arrogant, it does not act inappropriately, it does not seek its own interest, it is not provoked to bitterness, it thinks no evil, it does not rejoice in injustice, but rejoices in the truth; it bears all things, it believes all things, it hopes all things, it endures all things.

Love never fails. As for prophecies, they will be brought to nothing; as for languages, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will be brought to nothing. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when the perfect has come, that which is in part will be brought to nothing.

When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child; but now that I have become a man, I have done away with childish things. For now we see through a mirror in a riddle, but then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know, just as I myself am known.

And now remain faith, hope, and love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

1 Corinthians 13

Faith, Hope, and Love are a trinity that you cannot view separately from one another. This combination gives you the courage and the strength to live to the fullest. All three point to an inner power that resides within us all.

Faith is the assurance of what one hopes for, and the proof of what one does not see. Hope is the constant expectation that an uncertain outcome will turn out favorably. Hope brings life. Hope helps us to (continue to) trust. But love is patient and full of goodness. Love knows no envy, no vain display, and no complacency. It is not rude and not selfish, it is not easily angered and keeps no record of wrongs, it does not rejoice over injustice but finds joy in the truth. It bears everything, believes everything, hopes everything, and endures everything.

In Love, everything grows!

Chapter II

The Gift of Rest

Just as Faith, Hope, and Love are essential for a nourished soul, a good night’s sleep is essential for a nourished body. In fact, true rest is often described in the Scriptures as a divine gift and a sign of ultimate trust. When we let go of our daily worries and trust in a higher plan, we are granted the peace to truly rest.

"He gives to His beloved sleep."

Psalm 127:2

"When you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet sleep."

Proverbs 3:24

At Weids Living & Sleeping, we believe that creating a peaceful, natural environment for your body is a way of honoring that gift. Sleep is not just a biological necessity; it is a restorative blessing that prepares us to live out faith, hope, and love each and every day. This is the will of God.
